Close to 100 Irish dancers from Cashel Dennehy School of Irish Dance are heading to Chicago this week for 2016 Mid-America Oireachtas, a regional dance competition. The November 25-27 event is a world qualifier for the 2017 World Irish Dance Championships in Dublin, Ireland next April.
To compete at the 2016 Mid-America Oireachtas, dancers had to qualify at previous competitions in the last 12 months. Dancers are competing as both soloists and ceili team members.
“We are so proud of all of our dancers and these students have worked incredibly hard to be ready to compete at this high level,” said Laura Gottschlich, DO, TCRG. “Be it a first time soloist or a seasoned team member, we are excited to see our Irish dancers shine on the big stage later this week.”
Cashel Dennehy teachers include Kathy Dennehy, ADCRG; Laura Gottschlich, DO, TCRG; Kate Habel, TCRG; Maura Heck, TCRG and Alyssa Harling, TCRG.
